Aims Activity Science
Science and Faith: Understanding Meaning, Method, and Truth This is a sustained philosophical argument about the nature of knowledge involved in claims about science and about religion and the relationship between the two fields of understanding. The author's argument is that science and theology, while different in several crucial respects, are not incompatible. The basis for this claim is that science "is a human intellectual activity whose aim is to produce knowledge claims that will maximize utility," while theology "is a human intellectual activity whose aim is to produce knowledge claims about ultimate purpose." The two areas of knowledge are grounded in two very basic different kinds of human needs and experiences, and they have different aims. One of the "payoffs" of clarifying the nature of truth claims in science and theology is the resultant ability to reframe truth claims about creation and about miracles so as to dissolve the seemingly intractable conflict between scientific and theological ways of thinking.
Active Control of Vibration Ppr APL by C. R. Fuller, This book is a companion text to Active Control of Sound by P.A. Nelson and S.J. Elliott, also published by Academic Press. It summarizes the principles underlying active vibration control and its practical applications by combining material from vibrations, mechanics, signal processing, acoustics, and control theory. The emphasis of the book is on the active control of waves in structures, the active isolation of vibrations, the use of distributed strain actuators and sensors, and the active control of structurally radiated sound. The feedforward control of deterministic disturbances, the active control of structural waves and the active isolation of vibrations are covered in detail, as well as the more conventional work on modal feedback. The principles of the transducers used as actuateors and sensors for such control strategies are also given an in-depth description. The reader will find particularly interesting the two chapters on the active control of sound radiation from structures: active structural acoustic control. The reason for controlling high frequency vibration is often to prevent sound radiation, and the principles and practical application of such techniques are presented here for both plates and cylinders. The volume is written in textbook style and is aimed at students, practicing engineers, and researchers.
Science fiction fanzine - A science fiction fanzine is an amateur or semi-professional magazine published by members of science fiction fandom, from the 1930s to the present day. They were one of the earliest forms of fanzine, and at one time constituted the primary form of science-fictional fannish activity ("fanac"). Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand - The Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand is a non-profit organisation founded in 2002 which aims to coordinate and facilitate science fiction and fantasy-related fan activities within New Zealand. Being an umbrella organisation rather than being affiliated to any club or clubs, it hopes to remain free of the factional problems which beset its predecessor, the National Association for Science Fiction. Bill Nye the Science Guy - [Nye the Science Guy is an Emmy Award]-winning educational [[television program that was hosted by Bill Nye and produced from 1992 to 1998. Each episode aims to teach a specific topic in science to a preteen audience. Harvard-Radcliffe Science Fiction Association - The Harvard-Radcliffe Science Fiction Association (HRSFA) is a society based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its purpose is to promote science fiction (and fantasy) and aid in activity of those interested in the genre.

It tries to link spatial constraints and attributes with the origin, the destination, the extent, the nature and the acquisition of new scientific knowledge based upon physical evidence. Statistical decision making and estimation are regarded as fundamental to economic and social activities, including commuting, manufacturing, or supplying energy. In the 17th century Francis Bacon attempted to describe a rational procedure for establishing causation between phenomena. Bacon described a repeating cycle of observation, hypothesis, experimentation, and the purpose of movements. These activities do not describe all that scientists do (see below).
